Who Is Blair Ferrier?

I am Blair Ferrier, an Independent Audio Visual Engineer living in Austin, TX and serving the Hill County of Texas. I recently retired from the U.S. Army, serving the last 13 years with the West Point Band at the United States Military Academy, West Point, NY. This position, freelance, and volunteer work afforded me the honor to engineer the Academy Glee Club, Cadet Orchestra, and services at the Cadet Chapel.  I designed shows SUNY New Paltz and was awarded the KCAFT Certificate of Merit for Sound Design in 2007 (Fefu and Her Friends). 

I was raised in the midwest and attended the University of Memphis where I studied vocal performance. I joined the U.S. Army as a combat medic in 1991; first assignment, Larson Barracks, Kitzingen, Germany and then Ft. Irwin, California. In 1993 I began my audio career serving as a technician with the United States Army Europe Soldiers Chorus, subsequently leading to tours with the United States Army Soldier Show in 1996 and 1997. I arrived to the West Point Band in 1998 and retired July, 2011.

 

My military decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Army Commendation Medal with seven oak leaf clusters, Army Achievement Medal with four oak leaf clusters, Good Conduct Medal (6 awards), Expert Field Medical and Basic Paratrooper Badges.
